Dear North Carolina,
Are you crazy?
“…Only 46 percent of voters realized that the amendment would ban civil unions for gay couples as well as marriage, according to a Public Policy Polling poll. A majority of North Carolina voters support civil unions.” - http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/north-carolina-voters-banned-gay-marriage-civil-unions-011158194.html
First of all, is the Atlantic spraying you with mind-numbing indifference? Or is it your choice to let other people think for you? You hold the power to control other peoples’ lives in your ballot and you don’t know what you’re signing??
I mean really, this is about the right to live as an equal member of society, not a request to start a terrorist network. (Though at this rate, I’d really love to see an increase in glitter-bombing.)
What’s so wrong with spreading love? I am beyond lucky to know the friends I have, who am I to tell them how to live? To all you 29 states with no rational argument other than those listed above, you should be ashamed. Half of the straight population can’t get marriage right (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/divorce.htm), who says God isn’t praying for the world to realize it’s not about the type of person, but the promise you uphold to your religion and each other? You all are selfish, and for all the wrong reasons.
Someone call Minnesota and tell them that unless they want their state to be covered in gay spice (new line of glitter?), don’t follow in these guys’ heartless footsteps.
